The Validation and Innovation Point Asbestos (VIP) has issued positive advice to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment about the FiberCover® method. The method in question is for the removal of bonded, asbestos-containing window sills, cladding, glazing sealant, pipes and ductwork. The VIP has advised that the FiberCover® method be classified as risk class 1 and added to the SMA-rt web application (SMA-rt).

The Netherlands Labour Authority did an assessment to establish whether the method is practicable and enforceable. The SZW Inspectorate attached two conditions to the advice, on the basis of which the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment adopted the VIP advice. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has asked Ascert (the SMA-rt manager) to add this change to SMA-rt.
